"Mind forms body and body informs the mind. Yogis have known and taught about the mind-body connection for thousands of years and developed practices to help balance them. Our minds store memories as well as our bodies. When we experience difficult events in our life, sometimes the mind doesn't know how to process it so the memory gets stored in the tissues of the body. The body becomes a subconscious memory storage and the painful memories may be felt as tension and dis-ease in the body.
The body has amazing intelligence and it desires wholeness and harmony. Through a series of dynamic, mindful, targeted movements for the somatic tissues based on the Trauma Release Exercises of David Berceli, we offer the space for the body to find that wholeness again. This series invites the body to release the tension held in the tissues and with it the stories and trauma associated, without the mind getting involved or having to relive the memory. The class will also focus on breath work to help facilitate the movement of body, energy, and letting go."
